Dr Shehla Ebrahim, a highly trained cosmetic physician, opened the doors to Afterglow Skin and Laser Centre in 2005. She is a Certificant and a Fellow of the College of Family Physicians of Canada. In July of 2009, Dr. Ebrahim was also welcomed as a member of the Canadian Association of Aesthetic Medicine.

Dr. Ebrahim is a practicing family doctor whose successful skin and laser centre bridges two of her primary passions - wellness and beauty - the underpinnings of health and confidence. She has effectively combined her passion for art and creativity with science and technology. Afterglow Skin + Laser Centre offers the most current skincare technologies and techniques to rejuvenate appearances and improve wellbeing.

Available treatments include Botox therapy, injectable fillers, lip enhancement, Photodynamic therapy for acne, microdermabrasian, chemical peels, photorejuvenation with IPL, treatment for rosacea, sun damage, laser hair removal, and fractional resurfacing laser procedures for acne scars and surgical scars.

A physician educator and trainer Dr. Ebrahim continues to appear in print and broadcast media across the province including two upcoming features on W, the Women’s Network and the CBC’s Living Vancouver lifestyle program. Articles in the Vancouver Province, North Shore News and Vancouver Lifestyles magazine preceded a recent nod by the Women’s Enterprise Centre as one of BC’s top female self-starters, earning her a position in their recent publication New Pioneers: Stories of 100 BC Women Entrepreneurs.

Being a female physician, she understands the aesthetic needs of her clients and provides an honest and comprehensive assessment of the various options available for women to look the best for their age.

We believe that it’s not just about looking good. It’s about looking good and feeling good from within. We believe in health as wholeness and to this extent, have expanded our services to beyond the traditional definitions of a medi-spa to include services like mindfulness-based cognitive behaviour therapy, women’s health, osteoporosis and menopause.

Community Contributions

We have a strong mandate for corporate social responsibility and our unique role as health professionals enables as to give back to the communities in which we live, as well as the world at large.

Dr Ebrahim climbed Mt Kilimanjaro in 2006 to raise money for BC children’s hospital. In 2002, she travelled to Tibet to provide free medical service to the nomads of eastern Tibet.

In 2010 she is preparing to climb Mt Everest Base camp with a mission to promote and support community-based education, especially for girls, in remote, underserviced and war stricken areas of Northern Pakistan. She feels that the best hope for a peaceful and prosperous world lies in the education of all the world’s children.

In collaboration with the Central Asia Institute, a non-profit organization, she has pledged to donate 2% of the profit from the proceeds of Afterglow as of January 2009.
