BOTOX® Cosmetic Vs. Dermal Fillers
It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the number and variety of cosmetic injectables available. There are dozens of options, and they each offer a unique set of benefits. First, it’s important to understand the difference between cosmetic injectables and dermal fillers. Part of the confusion many people experience comes from what separates these two categories. All dermal fillers are cosmetic injectables—they are aesthetic enhancement treatments that are administered by injection. But not all cosmetic injectables are dermal fillers.
Dermal fillers, which include BELOTERO, JUVÉDERM®, Restylane®, RADIESSE®, , and many others, reduce signs of aging by plumping (filling) the skin. BOTOX®, Dysport®, and Xeomin® are different. They are more like muscle relaxers. Wrinkles can often develop as a result of overactive muscles, causing creases such as crow’s feet, forehead lines, and brow furrows. BOTOX® injections (and similar cosmetic injectables) can prevent excess muscle movement that contributes to the formation of folds.
