Skin Care Maintenance Programs

Afterglow Skin & Laser Centre offers Vancouver, North Van, West Van and Burnaby residents several ways to maintain healthy-looking skin on an ongoing basis. These skin care programs include topical skin creams and cosmeceuticals.

Topical skin care creams

Acid-based exfoliating creams have long been used by medical professionals to treat clinical problems such as eczema and severe acne. Milder formulations of these skin care creams are now used for cosmetic purposes to remove dead skin cells from the skin's upper layer to uncover fresher skin.

Cosmeceuticals

A new breed of facial products called "dermocosmetics" or "cosmeceuticals" combine dermatologic and pharmaceutical properties. Many of these skin care products work in the same manner as a chemical peel or dermabrasion, but less invasively, to exfoliate, repair sun damage and diminish uneven pigmentation. Others have been shown to reduce fine lines and repair some aspects of sun damage.
