What’s the difference between MicroLaser
Peel™ and microdermabrasion?
Both techniques resurface the outer layer of skin, called the epidermis; however, a MicroLaser Peel™ can also treat the deeper layers of skin to achieve more dramatic rejuvenation. Although it provides stronger treatment, MicroLaser Peel™ is still considered very safe and effective, and this therapy can deliver rapid results. Furthermore, a MicroLaser Peel™ can be customized to best suit a patient’s individual needs, whether they need just a light resurfacing or a more intensive approach. During your initial consultation, our skilled laser technicians will formulate a personalized plan to optimize your outcome.
What is the procedure like?
No advance preparation is necessary, and we will apply a topical numbing cream to the treatment area to give you the best experience possible. The treatment area will then be cleaned and you will wear safety glasses to protect your eyes from the light. The session typically lasts about 15-30 minutes, although your time may vary. Patients usually express surprise at how comfortable the procedure can be. Afterwards, your skin will be reddish, as if you have a sunburn, and skin may look and feel dry for the first few days.
How long does recovery last?
Some patients opt to take a couple of days off from work to let their skin heal. You will look a bit sunburned, and minor swelling and a similar sensation to having a sunburn is normal. Your skin will likely begin to flake in the treated area within a few days. Most individuals return to their normal activities after three to four days; however, more intense treatment may require a longer recovery. This is ultimately up to you and your comfort level. We strongly encourage patients to wear sunscreen every day, especially after treatment, as their skin will be sensitive to UV light. Once you’ve healed, we suggest continuing a proper skincare regimen to ensure the best possible outcome.
How long will the results last?
The MicroLaser Peel™ is designed to help refresh and rejuvenate the skin, and results will begin to be noticeable after about a week or so. The benefits can continue for many months, and occasional treatment sessions can prolong the effects and reduce development of deeper lines and creases as well as other common signs of aging. When combined with other non-surgical skin enhancements, MicroLaser Peel™ offers an excellent way to promote natural-looking youthful skin without the need for more invasive measures.
What other facial rejuvenation options can be used with MicroLaser Peel™ therapy?
