Time and gravity often have a negative effect on skin elasticity, typically resulting in fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin around the face, neck, and decolletage, while pregnancy can often result in mild skin laxity around the abdomen. Many patients believe that only surgical intervention can smooth and tighten the skin for a more youthful appearance; however, our experienced physicians, Dr. Shehla Ebrahim and Dr. Christopher Pavlou, recommend the state-of-the-art EndyMed™ treatments to help improve skin elasticity without the need for incisions, surgery, or other invasive techniques. EndyMed™ is an advanced, energy-based technological device that utilises radiofrequency (RF) to stimulate collagen contraction and production deep within the skin. This collagen remodeling helps to create firmer, tighter skin and a more youthful appearance. Furthermore, the treatment is designed to deliver the energy into the dermis, the second layer of skin, while leaving the upper layer, the epidermis, unharmed. Patients typically feel little discomfort and experience minimal downtime, regardless of skin type.
Benefits of EndyMed™
Using non-invasive radiofrequency energy, EndyMed™ heats the collagen in the skin, causing a two-fold reaction. The first effect is collagen contraction, which typically offers rapid reduction in skin laxity. The second effect is collagen production, which helps to provide gradual improvement in elasticity over the course of several months, long after completion of treatment. In addition to tightening skin, EndyMed™ can also provide enhanced facial contouring along the chin and jawline, as well as a reduction in fine lines across the entire face. Additionally, the delivery of energy is highly customizable, enabling Terry to tailor the approach to the patient’s individual needs and goals.
The EndyMed™ radiofrequency energy is delivered via a small, hand-held device, which will target the patient’s desired locations, typically around the cheeks, chin, jawline, upper arms, and/or abdominal region. Though heat is used to stimulate collagen, most individuals feel minimal discomfort. The procedure usually lasts between one and two hours, depending on the area and number of locations being treated. Furthermore, many of our patients experience minimal downtime and often feel comfortable returning to normal activities soon after the procedure.
Designed to be minimally-invasive, patients receiving EndyMed™ typically return to work and other activities soon after the procedure. Some redness in the treated area is normal and should fade within about four hours, at which point patients may apply makeup if they wish. A series of treatments, generally six, are typically required for optimal results and are usually spaced in one to two week intervals. Results will often begin to be visible after the second treatment; however, the development of collagen should continue to improve skin tone, texture, and elasticity throughout and beyond the completion of the therapy.
