What is laser hair removal with Soprano ICE like?
Designed to offer a more comfortable hair removal experience, the Soprano ICE offers an advanced platform that works on all skin tones and types, including tanned skin. Learn more about this innovative technology on our Soprano ICE laser hair removal page.
What is laser hair removal with Cutera CoolGlide® like?
Designed with a longer wavelength and a unique cooling technology, the Cutera CoolGlide® laser can be an excellent hair removal option for all skin types and tones, including light, dark, and tanned skin. During treatment the CoolGlide® handpiece over your skin as it delivers light energy into hair follicles to disable active growth. As the CoolGlide® device moves over the targeted area, it effectively cools and soothes the skin, helping to minimize any potential discomfort, redness, or swelling.
You may notice what seems to be regrowth of hair in the targeted region approximately three to seven days after treatment; however, these hair follicles are likely being shed as opposed to regrowing. For most individuals, about three to six treatments are necessary to attain optimal, potentially permanent results.
What is laser hair removal with Sciton® Forever Bare BBL™ like?
Capable of reducing growth up to 85 to 95 percent in targeted areas, Sciton® Forever Bare BBL™ therapy is one of the most efficient and effective laser hair removal methods on the market. This technique can be used on nearly all types of skin, and each treatment can be customized to meet your unique needs and goals.
During the Sciton® Forever Bare BBL™ procedure, a handheld device will slide evenly across your skin in the targeted region, delivering light in a precise and controlled fashion with maximum coverage thanks to IN-Motion technology. This light energy works to damage hair follicles by producing heat, and a built-in dual cooling mechanism helps leave surrounding tissues unharmed. As a result, the risk of common side effects such as discomfort, irritation, and swelling can be greatly diminished, and little to no downtime following treatment is generally required.
Approximately six treatment sessions with Sciton® Forever Bare BBL™ therapy may be necessary to achieve near permanent hair reduction results.
How does laser hair removal work?
Laser hair removal works by damaging the targeted hair follicle. Laser light is directed at the hair, and the pigment (what gives the hair color) absorbs it. When the hair absorbs enough light the growth mechanism breaks down. Different lasers use different concentrations and wavelengths of light, and the right one for you will vary based on many factors.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
At our practice, we strive to provide the most comfortable laser hair removal treatments possible. Though patients rarely need local anesthesia or pain medication, a topical anesthetic can be applied if necessary.
Are there any laser removal side effects?
Some redness and swelling in the targeted area is possible after laser hair removal treatment, though these symptoms are often minimal and most patients experience little to no downtime. If you’re noticing redness, swelling, or discomfort, we can provide some tips on how to reduce the appearance of these concerns. It’s also very important to wear sunscreen on exposed areas of skin while healing (and at all times—but be extra cautious following laser hair removal as your skin may be more sensitive).
Is laser hair removal permanent?
Multiple treatments may be necessary based on your skin type and thickness of hair, but most outcomes are very long-lasting, with some patients seeing lifelong effects. We will discuss the number of sessions you will likely need to achieve your desired result, as well as what to expect once the procedure is complete. Some individuals find that yearly “touch-up” sessions can extend the benefits effectively, while others may never need an additional treatment.
Home Laser Hair Removal Vs. Professional Treatment
Millions of people use razors, creams, and epilators to reduce hair growth at home, so why should you consider professional laser hair removal? Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference, but there are a number of reasons why you may wish to toss the razor in favor of the laser. The lifetime cost of using razors, getting waxes, and contributing to other temporary hair removal techniques is high—since the hair is never permanently removed, this expense will continue forever. Laser hair removal, however, offers a way to dramatically reduce and potentially even halt hair growth in a specific area. Waxing, epilating, and shaving can also cause significant discomfort and even injury. Ingrown hairs, irritated skin, and cuts are common concerns. Laser hair removal reduces the risk of these issues, particularly nicks. And for those with sensitive skin, laser hair removal may be one of the only effective options that doesn’t cause ingrown hairs.
Talk to us about your concerns and we can help you determine if laser hair removal or an at-home approach is ideal for you. Some people like to use both, depending on the area or their unique needs. You can find out more during your initial consultation.
How much does laser hair removal cost?
The price for laser hair removal will depend on the size of the area or areas being treated, the number of sessions needed, and the type of laser technology you choose. We will go over your many options in person, and we will customize a program that optimizes your outcome. Generally speaking, laser hair removal at our practice costs anywhere from $50 to over $1000, depending on these aspects. We will provide a more detailed estimate once your particulars are understood.
