The Science Behind Vampire Facials
The scientific basis for the Vampire Facial, a non-surgical variation, is PRP, or platelet-rich-plasma, which is rich in many growth factors that stimulate the production of new collagen. This treatment can be a very good option for clients who want to improve texture and tone of the skin, or reduce the appearance of fine lines.
Our extensively trained physician, Dr. Shehla Ebrahim, combines PRP with micro-needling. Tiny controlled microscopic injuries create open channels for the PRP and its rich growth factors to be absorbed into the skin.
The Vampire Facial begins with drawing the client’s blood. The PRP is separated in a centrifuge for 7-10 minutes, and then activated. Once the PRP is activated it is then painted on the client’s skin.
This is a comfortable procedure with typically no downtime. There may be redness for up to 12 hours, and this effect should be gone by the next morning. The Vampire Facial can be a simple, natural, and effective procedure to improve texture and tone of the skin and fine lines.
